We received a letter from Betty Witte, Administrative Director to the VP, regarding the AT&T Mobility Healthcare Bargaining.  Below is the content of the letter:

 

"As of today, we are still awaiting a decision from the arbitrator on the AT&T Mobility Healthcare Bargaining Contract.  But in the meantime, the company has elected to send out open enrollment packages to all employees.  Please advise your members to select their plan as if this will be the plan that is in place.  If there are any changes due to the arbitrator's ruling, the company will have to send out another package at a later date."

On October 23, 2008 the ballots were counted from the election for the positions of Executive Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and Departmental Vice President, Network/BCS/Utilities/Supply Chain Management for CWA Local 3902.  The results are as follows:

James Vines-Secretary/Treasurer

Ricky Allison-Departmental Vice President, Network/BCS/Utilities/Supply Chain Management

 

 

We received a letter today from Beverly Hicks, Assitant to Vice President and wanted to share it with you.  It reads:

 

"Last night it became evident that working Americans are ready for change.

 

Thanks to all of you for all the hard work.

 

Tell you members to take credit for all they did, and to remember it is up to us, to hold those we helped get elected, accountable.

 

The road to change has started, but it will take each of us to continue the momentum toward rights to join Unions, Health Care for all Americans, Job Protection, and a more secure economy.

 

Dawn today brought us (American Workers) one of the brightest days in America history."

 

                            

The AT&T, CWA, IBEW Academic Awards Program for the 2009/2010 school year is now available for children of employees covered under the Legacy AT&T 2005 AT&T, CWA, IBEW Operations Bargaining Agreements.  Applications will be accepted online only at https://www.scholarshipamerica.org/atta.  There will be 28 new scholarships awarded for the 2009/2010 school year.

 

An additional scholarship program is also available for CWA and IBEW members.  Children and step-children of all active AT&T employees may apply to the AT&T Scholarship Foundation Program.  These applications will be accepted only online at https://www.scholarshipamerica.org/attfoundation.  There will be 630 new scholarships awarded under this program. 

 

The deadline to apply for these scholarships is February 15, 2009. 

 

 

We have received a letter from the office of Noah V. Savant, Vice President CWA District 3 that reads:

 

"We have resolved all of the issues in District 3 concerning early bargaining.  The Company has agreed that we can participate in any protected activity such as informational picket lines and mobilization efforts.

 

They have also agreed if the other regions are on strike prior to the expiration of our contract they will not transfer additional work to this region.

 

Part of the Compnay's agreement to allow us to bargain early involved CWA and AT&T agreeing to what issue would be at a national table.  At this time that issue remains unresolved.  I will let you know as soon as a final determination is made.

 

If we bargain early, negotiations will begin on February 16, 2009.  If not, they will begin in June of 2009.

 

We will be selecting the bargaining committee from among recommendations made from each state soon."

We have received a letter from Betty Witte, CWA District 3 that reads:

 

"The Arbitration Hearing was held in Washington September 9th - 11th for our AT&T Mobility Healthcare Benefits.  Written briefs by both sides are due in October and we should have a ruling by the arbitrator in November.  We will notify staff and local presidents and post it on our website as soon as we receive Arbitrator Bloch's decision."
